About Kemicentrum

At Kemicentrum, all chemistry subjects within Lund University's Faculty of Engineering, LTH and the Faculty of Science come together. With over 1,000 employees and students, we are the largest center for education and research in chemistry in Scandinavia.

Departments at Kemicentrum 

At Kemicentrum, world-class research and education in chemistry are conducted at two departments; the Department of Chemistry and the Department of Process and Life Science Engineering. Read more on each department's website.

The departments work across borders with both education and research and have close cooperation with each other and with other institutions and research centers in the Öresund region.

Research 

At Kemicntrum, world-class research is conducted in a creative, innovative, and interdisciplinary environment. Everything from basic research to applied research and commissioned research takes place here. Researchers from various fields and specializations within chemistry work to understand, explain, and improve our world. Some of our key research areas include food and pharmaceuticals, renewable resources, water and wastewater technology, materials, environment, and energy.

The Department of Chemistry conducts research for the benefit of a sustainable society. Here, both basic and applied research take place. Strong focus areas include the environment, renewable resources, and health. These broad concepts encompass all disciplines within the field of chemistry.

Organisation

The departments collaborate scientifically and strategically, sharing facilities and services. This work is overseen by a board of joint services. Kemicentrum's board of joint services consists of the head of joint services, the heads of the two departments, and student representatives. Additionally, there is a joint committee for Environment, Health and Safety (EHS committee) at Kemicentrum.
