8.6 Glass waste

Place broken, clean, and disposable glass items into the brown cardboard box labeled “Glasavfall” (Glass waste). When the box is full, ensure it is securely closed, and check that no glass has punctured the box. The glass waste box will be picked up at your local recycling station.

Note! Broken laboratory glass that are contaminated with chemicals must be placed in a box or package that cannot be penetrated, such as a plastic jar. Handle it as chemical waste, follow the instructions in section 8.2 Chemical Waste. Label the box/container with the type of waste and the correct hazard pictogram according to CLP regulations.

Empty glass solvent bottles must remain in the fume hood until their content has evaporated. Rinse them if necessary. Remove the label and any pictograms or cross over text and pictograms on the bottle. Place the empty and clean glass solvent bottles at your local recycling station.
